Testimonials
I dropped off a wall clock for repair yesterday. I was able to pick it up today and it's as good as new! I cannot say enough about Perfect Timing and Greg! Top notch service and to make it even better he is a very nice gentleman. Definitely recommend! They deserve 10 stars!!

Excellent work. Rebuilt grandfather clock. He then fixed it to run. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend Perfect Timing Clock Shop! Greg fixed an antique clock for us two years ago - replaced parts and cleaned it up. It needed a minor repair recently. Greg did not charge us, and initially he said the repair would take a couple of weeks. When I told him it was my 86 year old mom’s primary source of telling time, he expedited the repair. His kindness and expertise have such a blessing to us!

Gregg was great, he explained what needed to be fixed, estimated the cost and time for repair. Our self winding Western Union Naval Observatory clock is back in business. He was even able to fix signal light to work. In the era these were used, the light illuminated when the clock was being synced with the US Naval Observatory.

We took a chime clock in for repair. Although the parts were no longer being made, Gregg found a way to make it work again. Highly recommend Perfect Timing for your clock repair needs! Detailed analysis and very reasonable. Thank you!

I took a mantle clock in that wasn’t working properly. Gregg took a look, and it turned out to be a pretty quick fix which he did in a few short minutes. He knew exactly where to look and what the repair was. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He is now my go-to clock guy. Thanks Gregg!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s the difference between electric, quartz, and mechanical clocks, and how does that affect the repair process?
Electric clocks are powered by synchronous motors connected to the power grid, requiring expertise in diagnosing wiring and motor issues. Quartz clocks, on the other hand, run on battery-powered oscillators and typically need circuit board or movement replacements. Mechanical clocks—often the most intricate—operate through a system of gears, weights, and springs that require cleaning, lubrication, and calibration to keep accurate time. Each type demands a different approach, which is why accurate identification and specialized repair knowledge are key to restoring function.
Why is in-home service especially important for grandfather and centennial clocks?
Grandfather and centennial clocks are tall, heavy, and often delicate—making them risky to transport. The clock’s pendulum, weights, and case must remain aligned and undamaged, and moving them incorrectly can throw off timekeeping or damage the internal mechanism. Our in-home service allows us to work on your clock in its natural position, ensuring it’s leveled, set up correctly, and running precisely without the risk of transport damage.
How often should I have my mechanical or grandfather clock serviced?
Mechanical and grandfather clocks should generally be serviced every 3 to 5 years, depending on their age, usage, and environment. Dust, temperature changes, and humidity can all affect the delicate internal parts, and without regular cleaning and oiling, wear and tear can shorten the life of your clock. Preventative maintenance not only keeps your timepiece accurate—it helps preserve its value and avoids more costly repairs down the road.
